The climate challenge

The climate challenge is an important long-term issue that justifies global action. Society’s challenge is how to balance climate action with energy security, affordability and economic development.

The scale of this challenge is such that governments must act by setting a clear, stable and effective carbon policy framework. Despite a slowdown in emissions growth, BP projects that global GHG emissions will continue to grow, increasing by 20% between 2014 and 2035, without further policy action (read BP’s latest Energy Outlook here).
